Five days of snowshoeing in the magnificent landscapes of Valais. No better way to eliminate the excesses of the end of the year holidays! Discover the Val d'Entremont and Grand St Bernard and spend two unforgettable nights at the legendary Hospice du Grand St Bernard and in mountain huts.

Jour/Day 1: RDV en début de matinée à Martigny puis trajet jusqu’à la Barmasse, point de départ de notre randonnée du jour. Montée à la cabane de Brunet, piquenique et Randonnée face aux Combins sur les pentes du Mt Rogneux. Repas et nuit à la Cabane Brunet / Meeting in the morning at Martigny, drive to the starting point of our hike and snowshoeing to the Brunet's mountain hut. Picnic and hiking on the slopes of Mt Rogneux facing the Combins. Return to the hut. Dinner and night at the Brunet's Mountain Hut.

Jour/Day 2: Après le petit déjeuner, redescente dans la vallée puis transfert jusqu’à Bourg St Bernard, point de départ de notre randonnée. Montée jusqu'à la Combe du Barasson puis au col du Grand St Bernard (2469m) par la « combe des Morts » en référence aux nombreux voyageurs du XVIIIème et XIXème siècle qui y périrent par mauvais temps. Après s'être imprégné de la magie des lieux, installation à l’hospice pour la soirée / After breakfast, hiking down to the valley and drive up to Bourg St Bernard, the starting point of our hike. Hike up to the Combe du Barasson then keep climbing up to the Grand Saint-Bernard pass (2469 m) through the infamous “Combe des Morts” in reference to the many travellers caught by the bad weather, who never made it to the safe heaven of the hospice and perished on the way to the pass. After a quiet time to feel the vibes and the magic of the place, settling-in the hospice for the evening.

Jour 3 /Day 3: Après un bon petit déjeuner préparé par les chanoines, départ pour la fenêtre de Ferret (2698m), col frontière reliant le vallon du Grand Saint-Bernard Italien et la partie supérieure du Val Ferret Suisse. Du promontoire panoramique près de la fenêtre de Ferret (2823m), magnifique point de vue sur les Grandes Jorasses, le mont Dolent et la partie orientale du massif du Mont-Blanc. Retour jusqu'à Bourg St Bernard en passant par l'hospice. Trajet jusqu’à Orsière. Nuit à l’Hotel Terminus / After a good breakfast prepared by the canons, departure for the Fenêtre de Ferret (2698m), a border pass linking the valley of the Great St. Bernard on the Italian side to the High Val Ferret in Switzerland. From the panoramic promontory near the Fenêtre de Ferret (2823m), we will enjoy the magnificent viewpoint over the Grandes Jorasses, Mont Dolent and the eastern part of the Mont-Blanc massif. Return to Bourg St Bernard via the Hospice and drive to Orsières. Night in the Hotel Terminus.

Jour 4 / Day 4:  Le matin transfert jusqu'au Borgeaud et montée à la cabane de la Bovinette (non gardée). Installation et découverte en raquette autour de la cabane. Repas et nuit à la cabane de la Bovinette / In the morning transfer to Borgeaud and snowshoeing up to the Bovinette mountain hut (unguarded). Snowshoeing and discovery around the hut. Dinner and night at the Bovinette mountain hut.

Jour 5 / Day 5: Randonnée en raquette sur la Bovine et vers la Pointe Ronde. Rangement et nettoyage de la cabane avant de redescendre dans la vallée / Snowshoeing on the Bovine and towards Pointe Ronde. Packing and cleaning the hut before going back down to the valley.

Accés / Access : Martigny & Orsières est accessible en train et en voiture - Possibilité de co-voiturer depuis Genève. Transferts sur place en voiture ou transports publiques / Martigny & Orsières are accessible by train or car - Possibility to car-saher from Geneva. Local transfer by car of public transport. 

Difficultés / Difficulty : R3 - Dénivelé positif 600-700m par jour /Positive ascent 600-700m per day.

Difficulté modérée. Une bonne condition ainsi qu’une préparation physique sont souhaitées. 600 m à 700 m de dénivelée par jour et 5h à 7h de marche. Le terrain peut présenter quelques passages raides nécessitant une bonne aisance technique. Une expérience de la randonnée en raquette est souhaitée / Moderate difficulty. Good physical condition as well as prior training are desired. 600m to 700m vertical climb per day and 5 to 7 hours hiking. The terrain may present some steep passages requiring good technical ease. Experience in snowshoeing is desirable.

- Raquettes à neige et batons de marche - possibilités de louer des raquettes + batons pour CHF20. Merci de nous informer à l'avance / Snowshoes and walking sticks; possibility to rent snowshoes and walking sticks for an additional 20CHF. Please let us know in advance.

- DVA (Détecteur de Victime d'Avalanche) obligatoire - possibilité de louer le DVA. Merci de nous informer à l'avance / DVA (avalanche transceiver) is compulsory - possibility to rent the DVA. Please let us know in advance.

Le prix inclus / Price includes: 5 jours de randonnée en raquette avec un accompagnateur en montagne certifié; hébergement en demi-pension dont 3 nuits en refuge de montagne et 1 nuit à l'hôtel / five days snowshoeing with certified International Mountain Leader; overnight 3 nights in mountain huts and 1 night in hotel.

Le prix n'inclus pas / Price does not include: dépenses personnelles; location de matériel / personnal expenses (drinks...); snowshoeing and safety equipment.
